Dandelions

Survival techniques from the dandelion and recommendations for use.

Dandelions are tough, and they have evolved to germinate at two different times in the year, in autumn and in late spring. It’s a good strategy to have two times in the year to germinate because it means two things.

Dandelion and calendula are gold on earth wherever no one grows they sprinkle golden dust to brighten the corners

03/05/2021, 19:11
Ok, around the ENTIRE world all dandelions have given up on sexual reproduction

03/05/2021, 19:11
Every dandelion is a clone.

03/05/2021, 19:11
 😮

03/05/2021, 19:11
whhhhhattttt

03/05/2021, 19:12
why?

03/05/2021, 19:12
Because they have hit the sweet spot

03/05/2021, 19:13
?

03/05/2021, 19:14
They have found away to live and thrive without need to diversify, so it’s just so much easier to not bother with sexual reproduction if you can just clone yourself so they have.

03/05/2021, 19:14
They doing very well

03/05/2021, 19:15
Honestly, they might be aliens or robots. But they late marching round the world in perfect harmony to give us magical medicine!

03/05/2021, 19:16
Wow. i'm listening to this by complex movements a lot and its all about our survival and dandelions

03/05/2021, 19:17
Dandelions are such good friends, when I think of how much they give to the world and how hard people are to them.

03/05/2021, 19:18
Plus dandelion hearts are the most delicious things. I love them fried in olive oil and garlic

03/05/2021, 19:19
Has anyone ever made dandelion jam?

03/05/2021, 19:19
From the flowers or the roots?

03/05/2021, 19:20
From the flowers

03/05/2021, 19:20
wow thanks for blowing my mind, i didnt know you could eat the roots?! and make jam?

03/05/2021, 19:21
Which part is the heart ? The flower ‘heart’ without the wispy seed or the green plant where the leaves sprout from ?

03/05/2021, 19:21
You can use the root like a coffee

03/05/2021, 19:22
Friends make dandelion syrup

03/05/2021, 19:22
Might be dandelion have planned better be self sufficient instead of relying on bees

03/05/2021, 19:22
The heart is an unopened flower bud in the centre of the plant with about an inch of root and the leaves pinched off

03/05/2021, 19:22
But stay close to home after dandelion root coffee...

03/05/2021, 19:22
I use in salad

03/05/2021, 19:23
Dandelion fritters ?

03/05/2021, 19:23
yes, this way they don’t need the bees but in an act of great generosity they still feed them! Dandelions are a very important food source for many pollinators.

03/05/2021,
This is one of the reasons why I think dandelions are our greatest teachers. They give so much medicine to us, to the bees, the many other insects despite what the world throws at them.

03/05/2021, 19:25
They are very laxative.... I was halfway up a mountain when I learnt that

03/05/2021, 19:25
Oh dear

03/05/2021, 19:25
Gutted 🥴

03/05/2021, 19:25
They may also ‘know’ something about where the world is heading about pollinators. Many plants that are choosing asexual reproduction (cloning themselves) are readying themselves for big environmental change.

03/05/2021, 19:30
It’s kinda scary for us right 🥴🥴 Or am I being super sensitive 🤔

03/05/2021, 19:32
Yeah, I think many plants are trying to tell us some pretty important things if you stop to listen.

03/05/2021, 19:32
no i think its really scary. but also always thinking about how plants have adapted because they need to and this somehow gives me hope. if we can learn from it ?!?
