What kind of herb is yarrow?

Yarrow is a really versatile herb and good for many things. I know we will look at it closely later on but I've heard it called 'chamomile for grown ups' it's good for digestion and for fever

interesting how often we think we are doing one thing (growing plants) but it changes to something else (growing support & friendships)

It’s wonderful company

My mum taught me that yarrow is the gardener’s herb because it’s the most useful herb to know if you’ve cut yourself.

I’ve also heard people call it the carpenter’s herb and the (rock) climber’s friend for the same reason.

That’s good to know I’m Always cutting myself

It could also be called the bee’s friend. Cause it’s a very good pollinator plant.

How do you use the yarrow if you have cut your self please? :)

I ‘worry’ the leaves. Which basically means to get the juices flowing.  You can either do this by pounding the leaves and then pressing the mash into the wound.

Or you can chew them to worry the juices out.

Cool thanks:)

When the leaves taste like they are stripping your mouth of moisture, the tannins are realised and ready to do their thing.

Why is it called ‘worrying’?

24/05/2021, 19:01
But I don’t think this is considered very hygienic🤣

My mum says it’s because the plant was ‘worried’ for you!

50 dried yarrow stalks were used by the Chinese to read the I-Ching
